7 Easy Ocean Activities for Preschoolers

Try seven low-preparation ocean activities for preschoolers that encourage observation, creativity and shared play.

1. Count the sea creatures

Draw or print a simple ocean scene and invite the child to find and count fish, shells and bubbles.

2. Make an octopus from paper

Use a paper circle for the body and eight strips for the arms. Count the arms together.

3. Create a coral reef collage

Layer torn paper, tissue and safe craft materials to build a colourful reef.

4. Follow a bubble trail

Draw several paths of bubbles and ask which one leads to the hidden cave.

5. Move like ocean animals

Glide like a dolphin, crawl like a crab and wave eight imaginary octopus arms.

6. Sort ocean colours

Group blue, green, purple and coral-coloured objects while talking about what they might represent underwater.

7. Find the Golden Feather

Hide a paper feather in an ocean picture or room and let the child solve simple clues to find it.
